That would be me - Rob Anderson.

I started my professional audio career as an assistant at Astoria Soundworks recording studio. As a lover of classical music, jazz, and acoustic music, I turned to on-location recording and started my own recording business back in 2003, and began to specialize in capturing musicians in their natural habitats - whether it be in live performance or in their living room.

My current clients include Music Before 1800, Brooklyn Chamber Music Society, Brooklyn Art Song Society, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute, Repast Baroque, Ghostlight Chorus, Gotham Early Music Scene, Suarez Paz Tango, and many others. Some recent and upcoming CD projects include artists such as Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, The Afro-Peruvian Sextet, SONOS Chamber Orchestra, and Scott Litroff.

Equally at home working in genres ranging from traditional classical music and jazz to funk metal and avant-garde electronic music, I have had the pleasure and privilege of recording performances by such artists as Piotr Anderszewski, James Cobb, Melissa Errico, Leon Lacey, Kim Burrell, and Living Colour; and organizations such as Newport Folk Festival, Westchester Philharmonic, The Sebastians, Brooklyn Indie Music Festival, NJCU Jazz Festivals, Apotheosis Opera, and NYU Symphony Orchestra. I have also had the chance to work with some pretty exciting avant-garde ensembles such as LEMUR, Newspeak, Ne(x)tworks, and The Wooster Group.

I specialize in "classical" stereophonic and immersive recording techniques for acoustic music; but I am also well-versed in larger scale multi-track captures, seamlessly integrating into shows working with all kinds of sound reinforcement systems. My rig is capable of recording anything up to 64 tracks, and has been everywhere from the finest concert halls to the most obscure clubs. Much of my work is live, some for broadcast; you may have heard some of my work on various NPR programs, WQXR, WFUV, WWFM, and others.

Early on, I spent some time working as a singer and "club-date classical" pianist. My performing career led me through venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to The Rainbow Room. In that past life, I served as a ringer and a soloist for numerous choirs throughout the city, and performed professionally with The New York Cantata Singers for many years. I am currently musical director of the Hollis, NY congregation of the New Apostolic Church. I am a Lecturer CCE of Music and Music Recording Technology for the Music Department of Queensborough Community College, CUNY, and recently joined the School of Film and Media Studies at SUNY Purchase as an Adjunct Lecturer.

I hold a MM in Music Technology (Tonmeister Honors Sequence) from NYU's Steinhardt School; earned my BS in Information Systems Management (minor in Music) from York College, CUNY; my AAS in Music Technology from Queensborough Community College, CUNY; and I also studied voice for a time with Joyce McLean at Juilliard. I am a voting member of NARAS and a card-carrying full member of the AES.
